shields, req9 vs lower question.....
OK, see if someone can help me here, ive checked the wiki, and most explanation say
"All max shields will give 8 Armor to characters that do not meet the attribute requirement. so use that. aside from some rare drops as req0 al 10 , what if say you have 2-3 extra points to throw in to command or motivation what additional armor will i gain. On this same idea ive been throwing away shields from lesser areas for example , al14 req 7 can i potentiall add up a combo to go higher than the 8 im thinking im getting? charts, pages, explanations? thanks for any help |

It's all or nothing for meeting the requirement. Either you meet it, and receive the full effect, or you don't, and receive half.

Yeah, if u dont meet the req, u get 1/2 armor... which kind of sucks when you just reach it and you get hit by weakness...

If you read Rachtoh's heroes builds you'll find the suggestion there that max shield armor isnt worth the extra points that could otherwise be better spent elsewhere.
Im now a firm believer too. Theres a shield in Blacktide Den (crafter i think) thats AL 13, rq 7, perfect for most Para's running GodMode or similar and having seen its results unless you already have the required 9 attribute points in the relevant attribute id consider getting a lower req shield with less AL. |

If you're running an imbagon, then you don't really need command or motivation skills. So using as few attribute points as possible for your shield is ideal, hence the recommendation for AL 15, req. 7 shields. |

Alot of people seem to think that the +armour is scaled.
(Aka 8...16 for how many attributes you have) But sadly that's not true, so if you don't meet the req, you simply get 1/2'th of the armour. |

so based on consensus so far
theres no adding a couple points to get 9 al or using a lower req shield to get more of the al based on meeting some of the requirement. bummer. |
